What is Life-Jesus is Life |
The question of life has been asked by
many. There are several definitions to life in terms of what we wish to define
it in relation to. To a whole lot of us, life is the absence of death. In this
sense, as far as we wake and move about we are alive and therefore have life.
This is true to some extent if we see it from only the concept of the physical.
Man is made of both the physical and the spiritual. In this sense, we need not
look at things from only the physical because for one to be fully seen in the
realm that God has created him or her, we need also consider the spiritual realm
in which he is created. Does God not start working from the spiritual before it
comes up in the
physical? Before God formed man out of the dust of the earth, He first created
man in the spirit.
Genesis 2:7 says “And the LORD God
formed man of the dust of the
ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a
living soul”. BUT BEFORE THIS, Genesis 1:27 says “So God created man in
his own image, in the
image of God created he him; male and female created he them”.
Creation may not involve a physical
thing: it could only be in the memory, in the spiritual. Consider it as an
image or impression you created; so after God created us (Adam) in Himself, He
brings out what He has created in the physical by forming Him out of clay. Man
is therefore created a spiritual person before manifesting in the fleshly form
in the physical. What does God do after forming man in the flesh? He breathed
into him “the breath of life” or in other words, He released the life he has
created (before forming Adam with clay) into him and Adam became a living soul.
But before the clay receives life from the spirit, the spirit already existed
in God. The absence of the flesh does not stop the flow of life from the
spirit, but the absence of the spirit can seize the flow of life from the
flesh. If this is so, we need not look at this from just one aspect, but we
need to look at it from both the aspect of the flesh and the spirit.
What then do we mean by life? To fully
explain this, we need to take a look at what the scripture that reveals the
true mystery of God says.
1John 1:2 For the life was manifested, and
we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto
you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested unto us.
Taking a look at this text, it states
that “The life was manifested”. Using the definite article “the” means it is
referring to a definite or a particular person. It goes on to say that this
very life was MANIFESTED meaning it became flesh in that it can be seen and
touched. It is not therefore surprising that it says “we have seen it”. Not
all, this life was with the Father even though he was in us giving us the
ability to move and walk around for He fills all things in all. Though we live
life, move and walk in life, we have not seen life before. For this matter, God
decided to manifest life to us. How does He do that? Let us find out.
John 1:1, In
the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God.
Let us relate this to what we read
first in 1John which says that the life was with the Father. It reads "we have seen it, and bear
witness, and show unto you that eternal life which
was with the Father ".
Now, John 1:1, says In the
beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God.
The LIFE referred to as
being with the father is the same WORD that was with God (the father).
This verse now says it is the word of
God that was with the Father (God) even from the beginning. Does this not mean
that the life spoken about in 1John is the word of God referred to in the book
of John? This means that the
word of God is life. Don’t
you forget that God only spoke His word saying “let us create man”, and it came
to pass? The trees and any other living things we see today come about as a
result of the word of God spoken. The word of God is, therefore, the life we
live: it is the life that sustains everything.
But now, this kind of life referred to
is said to be manifested in the flesh, and seen by men. One will say, if we
cannot see the word of God, then the scripture is not fulfilled, but take a look
at this.

What is Life if not lived happily in Jesus Christ |
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and
dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of
the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 John
bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spoke, He that
comes after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
Can you see that? The word became flesh
and dwelt among men. In other words, he lives among us eating, walking
etcetera. He is the one full of grace (and not the law), and truth (not
deceit), the son of God. Take a look at this also; the scripture says; John
bears witness to Him. Whom does John bear witness to but JESUS. Here it comes
clear as we see that the word which became flesh is actually Jesus who bears
the truth and the grace of God. Life, therefore, is in the person of Jesus and
not the mere fact that we wake and walk around every day.
Colossians_2:13 says” And you, being dead in your sins and the
uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.
This means one can be walking around,
but dead. It is only JESUS who is life that can save that person from death.
This also implies that without Jesus, you have no life in you. The life you
live in the physical is dead, but Jesus is still calling for you to repent by
accepting Him as your lord and saviour. It is only by this means that you can
get His life, which was with God from the beginning into you. It is for this
sake that we see in John
3:16 that “For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not
perish, but have everlasting
life”.
Why
will we have everlasting life by just believe in Jesus? Because He is life, and
in order to release that life on us, look at what He did.
Leviticus 17:11 says “For the life of the
flesh is in the blood: and I have given it
to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that makes an atonement for the
soul”.
This is wonderful. In order for Jesus
to give this life freely to us, He went through the sacrifice of pouring down
His blood which actually contains HIS LIFE so that by believe in Him, we can
have this life and live not just in the flesh by waking and walking around, but
also living fully in the spirit as designed by God from the very beginning.
We
now realise that life is actually Jesus and without Jesus we have no life. I
pray that the life of God in Jesus will manifest and dwell fully in you even as
you take this step to accept and believe in Him.
It
does not matter the life you live now. Have we not seen that the life was
manifested? No matter how evil you think you are, once you believe and confess
Jesus as your lord and saviour, his life will manifest in you that you will
become a wonder unto yourself.
I
pray that the life of God dwells in you richly. It is an immortal everlasting
life.
